Chapter Four: Happy birthday Gnomey

After the group of teens ate dinner, the special dessert was served to the birthday. It was molten chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream with hot fudge dripping from it. “Thanks guys! You’re the best.”

Jaden said as she took a spoonful of cake and ice cream in mouth. One of the boys looked over to the bar and grinned at Jaden.

“Hey Jaden!” Brian gestured his head over to the bar area “Look who’s over at the bar.”
Jaden looked over and blushed intensely. “It’s M-Matt…shit!”

“Why shit? Why don’t we invite him over here?” Jimmy asked but Jaden just shrunk in her seat.

“C’mon Jaden you can’t hide from him forever…Hey Matt!” Zacky called out.

Matt’s head turned and that smirk came across his lips. “You called?”

Jaden turned a whole new shade of red and she stuffed another spoonful of cake and ice cream. Matt grabbed his beer and waltzed over to the table and sat next to Jaden.

“So what are you guys doing here?” Matt asked as his wondered over to Jaden.

“We’re celebrating Jaden’s 18th birthday.” Jimmy said smiling.

“Ohh well then happy birthday, beautiful” Matt said giving the birthday a side hug which made her blush again.

“T-Thanks M-Matt…” Jaden said pushing the plate over to Jimmy who was happily attacking the cake. “Well after Jimmy is done, wanna go to the mall?”

“Don’t worry princess we’ll take you there.” Brian said poking her nose which made Jaden giggle. A slight appeared on Matt’s face when Jaden giggled and the rest of boys just smirked.

~Later~

The group of teens with Matt included walked around the mall aimlessly for hours. Jaden got a bunch of whistles from strange and the boys just stood by Jaden and protected her.

“Wow you guys are like our bodyguards or something” Jaden pointed out.

“Duh! It’s been like this since forever.” Jimmy said picking up Jaden and slinging her on his back.

Jaden giggled. “This is the most fantastic birthday ever! I love you guys.”

“ Love” Matt raised an eyebrow.

“Sibling love dude.” Zacky pointed out.

“Ohh” Matt said feeling a bit stupid.

The teens walked around a bit longer and Jaden fell asleep on Jimmy’s back.

“Hey guys….looks like the princess is all tuckered out.” Jimmy said in a soft whisper.

“But I wanna stay out longer!” Zacky pouted.

“I’ll take her home for you guys…if you guys don’t mind.” Matt offered.

The boys looked at each other then back at Matt and nodded.

“Alright then…but if she doesn’t make it home in one piece then I’ll beat the living daylights out you!” Brian stated with a scowl.

“Alright alright! I know how much she means to all of you so I’ll handle her with care.” Matt said reassuringly. Jimmy gently dropped Jaden into Matt’s arms and he held her tightly. “I’ll see you guys later.” Matt walked out of the mall with the precious cargo and out to the parking lot.

Jaden felt the cold nip at her skin which caused her to twitch in Matt’s arms. Matt held her tighter and found his car. He placed her gently in the backseat and put his letterman jacket over her small body. Matt got in the driver’s seat and started up the car. He looked at her in the rearview mirror and grinned.
